The Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter is one of the most innovative non-profit organizations in our community and we are dedicated to improving the lives of everyone in the Greater Texarkana Area! The RSOS positively impacts thousands of lives every year. We have outstanding, diverse volunteers dedicated to community service and we are always looking for talented and caring individuals to join our team. Whether it’s through teaching life skills and prevention programs, conducting drives, providing shelter, volunteers contribute to our vision of strengthening our community by helping people become self-sufficient.
For general volunteering information, please complete the form below. Once the applications are received, applicant information is forwarded to our Volunteer Coordinator who will contact you shortly regarding our current opportunities.
Get involved without ever leaving your desk! Consider hosting a donation drive! You have an amazing gift even if you can’t make a huge monetary donation or commit to a long-term volunteer project. Organizing a donation drive is a rewarding way to get your family, friends, co-workers, church, or school involved in helping community residents in crisis! Choose one of the following themes and you have all you need to make a difference! Once you have chosen a drive and the dates you will organize it, please call the Shelter for collateral marketing materials for the RSOS and help arrange for the much appreciated pick up or delivery of your donation.
The RSOS has launched a bakery program aimed at teaching commercial kitchen and baking skills while providing employment and a funding stream for emergency shelter needs. The bakery will employ those who are homeless or formerly homeless. The bakery team currently has multiple jobs booked and can always use the following items.
The RSOS operates a fully-functioning commercial kitchen 365 days a year. This kitchen allows us to offer nutritious meals 3 times a day to help residential clients reallocate their income to housing. In the donation drive, put together a “kitchen kit” from the following items:
The RSOS empowers residential clients to obtain life skills through the daily contribution of chores. Each client is assigned various tasks which adds to the daily maintenance of shelter housekeeping. The Shelter spends hundreds of dollars monthly to purchase the following supplies:
The RSOS has raised bed gardens to grow vegetables and other things to help the Shelter kitchen staff prepare meals, give fresh produce to those in need, produce fruit for the bakery program and sell through the local farmers market to help fund shelter operations. The garden can always use the following items.
The RSOS depends on over 40 different church, civic, and philanthropic organizations to provide and serve our evening meal. This effort could not be accomplished without volunteers like you. If you are interested in helping us fill our opening evenings, or becoming a regular monthly serving organization, please contact Mike Bell at (903) 280-7549.
